Statewide Organization, Mass Alliance endorses Shirley Arriaga for State Representative


BOSTON – Mass Alliance, a coalition of a wide range of political organizations dedicated to making Massachusetts work for regular people, is proud to announce its endorsement of Shirley Arriaga, candidate for State Representative of the 8th Hampden District (Chicopee).


“As a veteran who served in the US Air Force Shirley Arriaga has shown her willingness to sacrifice for the people of Massachusetts,” explained Jordan Berg Powers, Executive Director of Mass Alliance.


He continued, “That commitment to service and integrity, to put us first, is why

Mass Alliance was so proud to endorse Shirley. We know that she isn’t just another politician looking for the next job, but someone dedicated to the people of Chicopee.”

Mass Alliance is a coalition of 29 political and advocacy groups that fight for a more equitable Massachusetts. Its member organizations advocate for a wide variety of issues, including civic participation, civil rights, economic justice, education, environmental issues, healthcare, reproductive rights, immigrant rights and the rights of workers. Through their PAC, Mass Alliance, cultivates and empowers progressive leaders and assists them in ultimately winning

their elections.


Shirley is a lifelong Chicopee resident. At 20 years old, she enlisted in the US Air Force out of a sense of duty to the country. While serving stateside, she graduated from Elms College and earned a law degree from Western New England. As Veterans Director for Congressman Neal,


Shirley helped constituents with casework ranging from Medicare to foreclosures, and disputes with utilities. Shirley has been protecting and serving the community her entire life. She is a combat veteran, a mom, and an educator at Chicopee High and running for State Representative for the 8th Hampden District.
